General Description

Stem erect, abbreviated. LEAVES: Petiole subterete, flat above, broadly canaliculate towards the apex, 30-40 cm long, 5-6 mm thick; blade thinly coriaceous, deep green above, dull, broadly ovate-cordate, 35-42 cm long, 25-30 cm wide; posterior lobes semiorbicular, ca. 10 cm long, 15 cm wide, separated by a deep, obtuse sinus; anterior lobe ovate, apex shortly, thinly acuminate, 3-3 1/2 times longer than the posterior lobe; primary lateral veins 5-6 on each side projecting into the posterior lobe, 3-4 basal veins and 13-15 costal veins spreading in the anterior lobe, ascending arcuately near the margin. INFLORESCENCE: Peduncle 3-4 cm long. Spathe greenish-brown, tube oblong, 4-5 cm long, 2.5 cm large, blade ovate-oblong, apex acuminate, 6-7 cm long, 2 cm large. Spadix shortly stipitate; female zone cylindric, 2.5 cm long, 1 cm thick, male zone elongate-conoid, obtuse, 7 cm long, 1 cm thick at the base, somewhat attenuating upwards. Pistils ovoid, 2 mm long, usually 4-locular, ovules many, inserted near the base on long funcles. Male flowers 3-4-androus, stamens 2 mm long, staminodes 3 mm long, 1-1.5 mm wide.
