General Description

Stem scandent, internodes 8-10 cm long, 1.5 cm thick. Cataphylls lanceolate, soon dilacerating. LEAVES: Petiole rather terete, rather broadly and shortly sheathed at the base, 22-26 cm long. Blade thinly coriaceous, oblong-cordate, 35-40 cm long, up to 24 cm wide; posterior lobes semiovate, separated by a parabolic sinus, 6-7.5 cm long; anterior lobe subtriangular, acuminate, almost 3 1/2 times longer than the posterior lobes; primary lateral veins of the posterior lobes 3 on both sides, very shortly joined together; interlobe vein patent; 6-7 primary lateral veins of anterior lobe, emerging from the midrib at an angle of 45º-50º ascending arcuately near the margin; the midrib rather thick at the base, narrowing strongly towards the apex. INFLORESCENCE: Peduncle 4-5 cm long. Spathe greenish, oblong, barely acuminate, slightly constricted halfway, 8-10 cm long, convolute ca. 2 cm in diameter. Spadix shortly stipitate; female zone ca. 2 cm long, 1 cm thick; male zone cylindroid, obtuse, 6-7 cm long, at the base subequally as thick as the female zone, thereafter moderately thickened, attenuating upwards. Pistils conoid-oblong, 6-locular, measuring 1.5 mm, stigma with 6 somewhat excavated lobes. Male flowers usually pentandrous. Stamens cuneiform, thecae broadly oblong, obtuse on both sides.
