General Description

Scandent, epiphytic plant. Stem terete, smooth, grey-green, 3-4 cm thick, internodes 2-5 cm long. Cataphylls triangular, 14-20 cm long, 2-keeled, soon deciduous. LEAVES: Petiole terete, strongly sappy, 50-80 cm long, with a 10-15 cm longs sheath. Blade sagittate, anterior lobe 4-6 times longer than posterior lobes, 50-60 cm long, 20-30 cm wide, apex acuminate, margin slightly undulate. INFLORESCENCE: Peduncle sappy, 8-12 cm long. Spathe red or grey-pink, ca. 20 cm long, slightly constricted halfway, apex falcate. Spadix: Female zone white, 7-8 cm long, 1 cm thick. pistils oblong, 12-locular, locules 1-ovulate.
