General Description

Stem scandent. LEAVES: Petiole terete, 25-30 cm long, with a sheath at the base which is 3-4 cm long, and rather broad at the base and narrowed upwards; Blade slightly coriaceous, elongate-cordate-sagittate, 26-32 cm long, 12-15 cm wide, posterior lobes subtriangular, obtuse, separated by a rectangular sinus; Anterior lobe oblong, apex oblique, acuminate, ca. 6 times longer than the posterior lobe; Primary lateral veins of the posterior lobe 3 on each side, first recurved, then curved upwards near the margin, barely joined at the base, interlobe vein spreading at a sub-right angle, veins of the anterior lobe ca. 12 on each side, spreading from the midrib at an obtuse angle, upwards near the margin. INFLORESCENCE: Peduncle... Spathe oblong, apex shortly acuminate, slightly constricted halfway, ca. 12 cm long. Spadix shortly obliquely stipitate, female zone cylindroid, 2.5-3 cm long, 8 mm thick, male zone fusiform obtuse, 5-6 cm long, 1 cm thick at halfway, attenuate on both ends, sterile above. Pistil ovoid 1.5 mm long, trilocular, with a thick discoid stigma, ovules borne at the base. Male flowers usually tetrandrous; stamens prismatic, thecae broadly oblong, obtuse.
